Lesson Plan – Bugs

So I was struggling with a way to make my lesson plan relating to spring and fun things. We’ve already done flowers and some weather items plus seasonal/holidays so I finally came up with bugs. Please let me clarify not creepy scary bugs but cutesy spring bugs so my kids will like it!

Here is the break down of the items I found -

Theme -

Bees in a Beehive – Music & Movement from Scholastic

Bug Dominoes from Scholastic

Bug Rhyming Words from Teachers paying Teachers

Bug Identification Flash Cards from Preschool Printables

Write and Identify Bug Sheets from Preschool Printables

Bug Sequencing Cards from Preschool Printables

Workbook -

Big B is for Bugs Tracing Page from 1+1+1

B is for Bugs B Writing Practice from 1+1+1

8 Spots on the Ladybug from Making Learning Fun

Bug Word and Picture Matching from AllKidsNetwork

B is for Bug & Beetle Worksheet from Preschool Printables

Art -

Volley Bugs of Pixie Hollow Stick Puppets from Disney Family

Fawns Butterflies from Disney Family

Bug Mobile from Scholastic

Lady Bug Plate Craft from Family Corner

Paint Rocks into Lady Bugs/Bees

Science -

Butterfly Life Cycle Sequence Cards from Lakeshore Learning

What Bugs Do Worksheet from All Kids Network

Math -

Counting Bugs Book from Scholastic

Don’t Bug Me Math Worksheet from Scholastic

Lesson Plan in Action -

Bug Handwriting Practice – This was page 2 and they did a fabulous job. I was especially impressed with Ali… you can barely tell who’s is who’s here which means Ali’s tracing is getting very good!

This is mostly used as letter recognition but also a little bit of writing practice as they use the sparkly bingo dobbers we have to trace the shape of the letters. Anything involving dobbers is their favorite thing to do!

Bug Mobiles - They used the dobbers to color the flowers and markers/dobbers to color the bugs. So much fun!
